PRESS RELEASE/Campaign for Kathy Schrader

Duluth attorney Kathy Schrader qualified to run for Gwinnett County Superior Court in the July 31st election, accompanied by her husband of 25 years, Richard Schrader, and her three children: Russell, Katie, and Joey.

“I'm running for Superior Court judge because of my commitment to the community in which Richard and I have raised our three children, and in recognition of the responsibility we have for our community,” said Schrader. “My unequaled experience as a lawyer, solicitor, Municipal Court Judge in Duluth and Sugar Hill, and most importantly, a parent of three children, make me the best-qualified candidate for Superior Court."

Professionally, Kathy is in private practice at Schrader Legal in Duluth, and started “Resolution Matters” to promote amicable and efficient settlements of legal disputes without resorting to the expense and stress of courts.

She served as President of the Gwinnett County Bar Association from 1995-96 and under her leadership, the Gwinnett County Bar Association received every award available from the State Bar of Georgia for local bar associations, including the President’s Award.

Kathy Schrader was twice rated as qualified for Gwinnett County Superior Court by the Judicial Nominations Commission. Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Kathy to the Board for the Governor's for Children and Families and Governor Nathan Deal re-appointed her, while First Lady Sandra Deal chaired the Board. Kathy worked on the Governor's Office for Family and Children to ensure that funding is available to local shelters for abused women and children. She has also worked with domestic violence shelters and organizations across the state.

Kathy and her family are actively involved in Cross Pointe, The Church at Gwinnett Center, where Kathy serves in the Women’s Ministry and missions, and has served as a youth leader, mentor for young women and small group leader for marriage enrichment. She has coached many Gwinnett County softball and cheerleading teams, and served as proud team Mom for many baseball, football and wrestling teams.  Kathy has lead and supported Brownie, Girl Scout, Tiger Cub, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops.

The judgeship is nonpartisan and will appear on all ballots in the July 31st election.
