Snellville Council Meeting Feb. 14

City council meets on Valentine's Day. Ethics, special events and water ordinances on tap.

Snellville City Council will meet Monday, Feb. 14 for its first regular meeting of the month. The 7:30 p.m. meeting will be preceded by a work session at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at You may view the full agenda documents here.

New Agenda Items:

1.Β  Special events ordinance: This ordinance allows the sale and consumption of alcohol in outside special events by permit. The ordinance would limit drinks to no more than two at a time per person. Additionally, no person would be allowed to hold an open alcoholic beverage in a container that exceeds 12 ounces. Persons also would not be allowed to take an alcoholic beverage served in the designated area outside the area. This ordinance is expected to have a first reading.

2. Water conservation ordinance: This ordiance would allign the city with statutes recently adopted by the state on water restrictions. Residents would only be allowed to do outside plant, shrubs and grass watering between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. daily. This ordianance is expected to have a first reading.

3. Ethics ordinance: This ordinance would codify the ethics policies established in 1990. In addition, city staff are asking that a home rule ordinance also be passed in the future that would establish an independent board to hear ethics violations. This ordinance is expected to have a first reading.
