Snellville Council Meeting Jan. 9

The city will hold its first council meeting of the new year Monday, January 9, 2012.

Snellville City Council will meet Jan. 9 for its first regular meeting of the month. The 7:30 p.m. meeting will be preceded by a work session at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at City Hall. You may view the full agenda documents here.

  • Work session discussion items, include: Parliamentary procedure, solid waste ordinance, report on code enforcement, Oak Road Park, legal services for STAT billed to city, LCI update, State of the City address, city attorney's engagement letter (regarding fee for services)
  • Regular meeting items, include:
    • Ceremonial matters: Presentation of art work by Andrew King to the mayor, and recognizing the U13 girls and U10 boys soccer teams
    • Committee/department reports: Snellville Tourism and Trade Association, Parks and Recreation and city audit report
    • Consent agenda: Consideration and action on: application for automotive parts store on Oak Road and amending Chapter 18 of the buildings regulations codes (first readings)
    • Public hearing: Consideration and action on: amending Chapter 2, Article 2, Section 2-82 of the city code which states that the city attorney shall serve as parliamentarian
    • New business: Consideration and action on: five-year update to the city's Livable Center Initiative, election of mayor pro tem, resolution about opening an investigation into possible city ethics violations (deriving from Councilman Mike Sabbagh's appearance before Marietta City Council), and Market Street Services, Inc.
    • Other: Council reports, mayor's report, public comment
