Sunday Alcohol Sales Start Today

Where are you going to get your six pack?

About 65 percent of voters in the recent Snellville city elections voted in favor of allowing packaged alcohol sales on Sunday, and sales are slated to start today -- November 20.

The city of Snellville pre-approved an ordinance to allow sales -- pending an affirmative vote by citizens -- earlier this year. And, officials initially thought sales would be able to start last weekend.

But, alas, today's the day.

The ordinance allows the package sales of malt beverages and wine between 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

In some cases, store managers have to shift hours and employees to be able to accommodate the new day and times.

A few other cities starting sales today include: Lawrenceville, Loganville, Suwanee and Duluth. In nearby Lilburn, sales won't start until December 18 at the earliest. Gwinnett County voters will take up the measure next year.
