2013 Shiloh High Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Gwinnett County Public Schools announces names of Shiloh High School's 2012-2013 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Gwinnett County Public Schools has released the names of the 2012-2013 valedictorian and salutatorian from Shiloh High School.

The title of valedictorian is normally given to the student with the highest GPA, and salutatorian is given to the student with the second-highest GPA. Photos of the honorees are attached to the story.

  • Valedictorian: Tilak Patel, son of Danreshkumar Patel and Bharti Patel, will attend Georgia Tech. He plans to major in engineering, and to pursue a career in the field. He has received a four-year scholarship to attend Georgia Tech. He also has received or been offered a QuestBridge Scholarship, AP Scholars Award, and the Georgia Certificate of Merit, among others. During high school, he participated in the National Honor Society, Beta Club, varsity football, Georgia Math League, and others. Outside of school, he has been a youth activities coordinator for BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
  • Salutatorian: Hermoon Alemayehu Worku, daughter of Senait Belayneh and Alemayehu Muzu, will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology She plans to study biology and to pursue a career as a pediatric surgeon. In addition to receiving a scholarship from MIT, she also has been offered scholarships from Johns Hopkins University and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Other honors include an AP Scholars Award. She has participated in National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Latin Honors Society, among other high school activities. Additionally, she has volunteered at Emory University, Shiloh Middle School and Relay for Life.
