Board of Education Picks Next Brookwood Elementary Principal

Cheri Carter, currently the school's assistant principal, will replace Karen Head, who is retiring.

Cheri Carter has been named the next principal at Brookwood Elementary School.

Carter, currently the school’s assistant principal, will replace Karen Head, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

She was one of four new elementary school principals named by the Gwinnett County Board of Education at its March meeting, according to a press release.

Carter has been at Brookwood Elementary since 1988, teaching third grade, gifted education and Reading Recovery. She has been assistant principal since 2006.

She has bachelor’s (Valdosta State) and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education, and a specialist’s degree in Administration and Supervision.
