Brookwood Student Wins National Merit Scholarship

Akshaya Suresh of Brookwood High School l is one of nine seniors from Gwinnett County Public Schools named National Merit scholarship winners.

Akshaya Suresh of is one of nine seniors from Gwinnett County Public Schools recently named National Merit scholarship winners.

Suresh, who is considering studying law, will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The company gave out more than 2,000 of the scholarships nationwide to seniors with the strongest combinations of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in college.

Suresh is also at Brookwood High School this year. In addition, she was the district's top choice for the . The honor goes to the a senior in the top 10 percent of his or her class who also received the highest SAT score. In the fall, Suresh will be attending Yale University.
