Football Practice Opens Monday

Games will begin later this month for the three high schools in Snellville.

With school just around the corner for Gwinnett County students, that also means it's football time!

Teams throughout the district are able to begin football practice starting today, August 1, according to Mike Emery, athletic director for Gwinnett County Public Schools.

, and squads' 2011 seasons begin later this month, along with other schools in Gwinnett County.

South Gwinnett High is the first Snellville team to open play, as it faces Lowndes High Vikings on August 19. There will be a pre-season scrimmage at Mill Creek High on August 12.

Brookwood High will then play opponent Lassiter of Marietta on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Georgia Dome in the Corky Kell Classic.

Shiloh High's first game of the season is against Newton County at a home game on August 26. The team also plays a scrimmage match against Redan on August 12.

The first intra-city game is Sept. 16, when South Gwinnett hosts Shiloh

Brookwood High is coming off of a stellar season, as last year's Class AAAAA state champion. Shiloh Generals will be starting its first season with new coach, Brian Montgomery. South Gwinnet finished the 2010 season at 9-3.
