Shiloh High Names New Football Coach

Troy Hobbs has been named the new head football coach for team, according to school officials.

Hobbs' appointment follows the , who left during an investigation into alleged recruitment violations. According to school records, Montgomery resigned April 19 due to an illness.

On Wednesday, Shiloh players and parents had their first chance to meet the new coach, who has already started spring workouts with the team.

Reached by email Friday evening Hobbs said, "We are working to get things in order. Slow process."

Hobbs comes to Shiloh High from , where he was the head boys track coach.

He also served as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator under Bob Sphire for the North Gwinnett Bulldogs football team. With his assistance, the Region 7-AAAAA team made several playoff apperances, and had a record of 10-2 in the past season.

Hobbs has a total of 16 years of coaching experience, including stints at Kentucky's Lexington Catholic High School and the Lexington Horsemen of the United Indoor Football League, according to information the North Gwinnett High School website.

Orginally from Miami, Hobbs graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High, according to the North Gwinnett High School website. And, later he played in the Southeastern Conference as a college football player for University of Kentucky under former coach Bill Curry.

Besides sports accolades, Hobbs also holds a bachelor's and master's degree in social work from University of Kentucky.
