Brookwood Grad Chosen for Barbados National Soccer Team

Snellville native Washida Blackman is currently playing for the Mercer Bears.

Brookwood High graduate and Snellville native Washida Blackman, who's currently playing for the Mercer Bears, has earned a sport on the Barbados National Women's Soccer Team. 

According to the Bears website, the junior forward is one of the 10 overseas-based players selected to the 37-member team after she recently trained with them in the South American country.

Blackman, who was born in Barbados and moved to the U.S. when she was 2, and the rest of the Barbados team will try to qualify for the Women's World Cup by participating in the CFU Women's Caribbean Cup in April.
