Brookwood Rushes Past Central Gwinnett

Jamaal Cole scored four TDs as Broncos beat Black Knights 56-14.

Brookwood converted three second-quarter Central Gwinnett turnovers into scores to build a 14-point halftime lead, then blew the game open with 21 unanswered points in the third quarter to post a convincing 56-14 win over the Black Knights.

Central Gwinnett (3-2, 1-2 in Region 8-AAAAA) took the opening kickoff and drove 66 yards in nine plays, including a 23-yard gain by Josh Marshall on a fake punt to the Brookwood 30. Four plays later, Louis McGee scored from two yards out, then caught the conversion pass from Emmanuel Westmoreland to put the Black Knights up 8-0 with 9:17 left in the first quarter.

Brookwood (3-2, 2-1 in 8-AAAAA) finally got on the board as the second quarter opened, capitalizing on the first of three Central turnovers. Following a Westmoreland fumble that the Broncos recovered at the Black Knights 20, Jamaal Cole ran for 18 yards, then punched it in to make it an 8-6 game after Zach Moon's conversion pass was picked off by Aaron Taylor.
