Parkview at : Defense versus offense will greet fans Friday in Snellville when the Parkview Panthers play the South Gwinnett Comets. There’s no doubt that South Gwinnett’s offensive explosion in last week’s 63-55 win over Central Gwinnett has gotten the attention of the Parkview coaching staff. The Comets gained more than 600 yards, including nearly 400 running and passing by South quarterback Mason Hart. It was a breakout game for South (1-3, 1-1 in Region 8-AAAAA), which struggled in losing its first three games. Parkview (1-2, 1-0 in the region) also righted things a bit in a 30-19 win over Shiloh. The Panthers should be the toughest defense South will have faced so far. One thing that is hard to overlook for this game: Parkview dominated a Shiloh team that had beaten South Gwinnett 28-19 the week before. There will be points scored, for sure, but don’t expect South to match last week’s output. Parkview 32, South Gwinnett 25.

Dacula at : Rewind back a couple of weeks, when Shiloh came back to beat South Gwinnett on the Comets’ home field, then to last Friday when the Generals were beaten soundly. What exactly are we to expect from the Generals (1-3, 1-1 in 8-AAAAA)? Dacula (1-2, 1-0) have an impressive win over Brookwood two weeks ago to its credit. The Falcons should win this. Dacula 30, Shiloh 21.

at Central Gwinnett: Like Parkview-South Gwinnett, this will match a solid defense (Brookwood) against a high-powered offense (Central). Central (3-1, 1-1 Region 8-AAAAA) averages just under 50 points per game. Brookwood (2-2, 1-1) has allowed only 60 points total in four games. A loss will be damaging in the playoff race for either team. This smells like a Central win, but something feels like Brookwood has yet to put it together and might just do it this week. Brookwood 31, Central 28.
