HS Football: What's Gwinnett's Longest Active Win Streak Among County Rivals?

Two-plus decades and counting, that’s how long it had been since the Shiloh varsity football team had scored a win over county rival Parkview.

But that all came to an end last Friday night at Shiloh Community Stadium as Adrian Lollar’s 27-yard field goal with 22 seconds left lifted the Generals to a 23-21 win over the Panthers.

The victory not only kept Shiloh’s playoff hopes alive, but also snapped a 21-game losing streak to Parkview, which last fell to Generals during the 1991 season. In other words, all of the players on the field Friday were still several years from even being born the last time Shiloh topped Parkview.

Shiloh, 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Region 8-AAAAAA play, will look to keep it rolling Friday night at Dacula, 3-4 and 3-2, The Generals need one more win to break a string of nine straight losing seasons.

Parkview, 1-6 and 1-4, entertains Central Gwinnett, 2-5 and 2-3, on Friday night.

Parkview’s dominance over Shiloh had been Gwinnett's second-longest win streak among county rivals. But what’s the longest active streak? According to Georgia High School Football Daily, that would be Brookwood’s 22-game win streak over Berkmar.

And like the Generals did last week, the Patriots, 3-4 and 1-4, will get their shot at ending the skid this week. Berkmar will also seek to end an overall four-game losing streak when it visits Brookwood, 3-4 and 3-2, on Friday night.
