may be considered a run-oriented football program, but it was a wide receiver who played the biggest role in the Broncos’ 30-27 win over Peachtree Ridge last week in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs.

The senior scored three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime.

Sammon had three catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns — including a 42-yard gain on a reverse-and-pass play — and scored on an eight-yard end around run in overtime.

Other top performers:

Zach Moon, quarterback: The junior completed 6 of 15 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Gouge, tight end: The senior graded 90 percent on his blocking assignments.

Conner Hennessey, linebacker: The senior had 11 tackles 2 assists, 1 pass break up, and recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for a TD.

Eric Mapoles, linebacker: The senior had six tackles and three assists.

Toby Guinn, cornerback: The senior had three tackles, a pass breakup and an interception.

Ramirez Galbreath, defensive end: The senior had three tackles, six assists, one tackle for loss and a sack.

Other team awards: Mitch Hotop (Special Teams); Xxavier Robertson (Gold Team); Eric Fitz (100%).
