At the end of an email that included Jamaal Cole’s stat line from Brookwood’s 59-21 win over South Gwinnett, Head Coach Mark Crews added the question, “Offensive Player of the Week?”

Um … yeah.

Cole, a junior running back, accounted for 231 total yards and three TDs in the Broncos’ win. He rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and had five pass receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Other top performers last week among local players:

Zach Moon, quarterback: The junior completed 12 of 14 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.

Michael Gouge, tight end: The senior graded 93 percent on his blocking assignments and caught two passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Nick Thompkins, running back: The senior had 123 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Conner Hennessey, linebacker:  The senior had four tackles, three assists, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one QB hurry.

Ramirez Galbreath, defensive end: The senior had six tackles, three assists and two QB hurries.

D.J. Brown, defensive back: The senior had eight tackles, one assist, one touchdown-saving tackle and an interception return for a TD.

Javier Dyer, defensive end: The senior had four tackles, two assists and one tackle for loss.


Jordan Ramey, quarterback: Completed 15 of 23 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

Bernard Morrison, wide receiver: Had four receptions for 76 yards and four kickoff returns for 114 yards.

Spencer Williams, running back: Seven rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown, and one reception for 50 yards.

Philip Love, linebacker: Nine tackles.

Jareyl Slate, linebacker: Six tackles, one QB pressure.

Azziz Higgins, linebacker: Nine tackles, one pass breakup.

Tyler Claytor, offensive lineman/defensive lineman: Had six tackles and two tackles for losses on defense; four “pancake” blocks on offense.
