Player of the Week: Mason Hart

Backup overcomes adversity in loss, stepping in for injured quarterback only to meet with a family tragedy soon after.

Junior quarterback Mason Hart of South Gwinnett had less than a week to realize that he would be the starting quarterback against the No. 3-ranked . Hart took over for starting quarterback Jordan Ramey, who broke an arm in the scrimmage earlier this month.

And, when his team got the ball on their first possession, Hart led the South Gwinnett Comets on a scoring drive that was highlighted by a perfect 38-yard fade pass to Mark Watts for a touchdown. Hart finished 17-25 for 108 yards and the one touchdown. He did have two interceptions in a 45-13 loss, however. Following Friday's game, on that Sunday, August 21, Hart's family also experienced a personal tragedy, with his home being completely
