Nick Tompkins/Brookwood

Nick Tompkins and the Brookwood Broncos came back strong last week after their 0-1 start.

Tompkins carried 27 times for 118 yards as the defending state champions beat Collins Hill 24-7.

Tompkins led the Broncos to a 21-0 first-half lead that put the game away early.

He had 79 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

Jamaal Cole, running back: Twelve carries, 66 yards, two touchdowns; two interceptions on defense.

Zach Moon, quarterback: Completed 5 of 9 passes for 68 yards.

BJ Sammon, receiver: Two receptions, 35 yards.

DJ Brown, receiver: Two receptions, 23 yards.

Brandon Morrow, kicker: 3-of-3 PATs, 39-yard field goal.

South Gwinnett

Mason Hart, quarterback: Passed for one touchdown and ran for two others in a 33-23 loss to M.L. King.
