Shiloh High Football Coach Reassigned

Brian Montgomery has been the head coach for a little more than a year. He now is working at the district office pending an investigation.

Brian Montgomery, hired to turn around a beleagured football program at Snellville's , has been reassigned just one year into the job, according to media reports.

The move comes after the Georgia High School Association contacted Gwinnett County Public Schools regarding an investigation into alleged recruitment violations, according to a report by the AJC.

According to the report, a GCPS spokeswoman said the district conducted its own inquiry, and Montogmery was reassigned to the district office pending the outcome.Β

In February 2011, Montgomery was hired away from North Atlanta High to lead Shiloh's football program. Before that, he taught in Texas and Alabama.

During his time at both North Atlanta High and Shiloh High schools, Montgomery was instrumental in helping his football players find spots at colleges and university.

Just this year, to colleges on National Signing Day in February. Twelve of the players committed to Concordia College in Selma, Ala., and two to Division I schools William & Mary and Vanderbilt University.

On that day, Montgomery said signing day was more than the culmination of games won or playoff appearances.

"Of course, we would love to do that," he said. "But, I also personally like to have somewhere for my kids to go after they've done all that hard work, to have some type of reward that's larger than just a plaque or a trophy, and by getting a scholarship offer to go play at the next level, that's definitely a huge reward for them."
