Summer Entrepreneurship Camp Begins Monday, June 23

The Biz4Youth Summer Entrepreneurship Camp for youth ages 7-18 officially kicks off on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Centerville Community Library.  

The camp is offered to children and teens ages 7-18.   

According to co-founder Lisa McDonald, the week long camp is a collaborative effort between MyTrueBiz small business services and Youth Business Academy, a youth-based entrepreneurial training organization based in Atlanta.

Karrimah Muhammad, founder of Youth Business Academy, has taught entrepreneurial skills to the youth for the past 12 years, according to a recent press release. She has offered her youth business program at the Georgia State University’s Saturday School for Scholars and Leaders.

“We are teaching the youth how to create a vision board of their future and summer is the perfect opportunity to do something fun, memorable and rewarding,” said Muhammad. 

The camp promises to be a  fulfilling experience for each child who attends. The are two programs: KidPreneurs, for children 7-11, and TeenPreneurs, for ages 12-18.

Campers will leave the program with transferable core principles such as teamwork, problem solving, paying it forward  and much more, according to McDonald.  They will not only  participate in creative activities throughout the week, but  will  also meet like-minded friends and potential business partners.

The Biz4Youth Program Coordinators have invited a group of experienced business professionals from around the metro area to teach different components of  the  business program.  These classes include business etiquette, ethics, and philanthropy.

Campers will also design their own logos and business cards, learn basic budgeting and saving financial principles with the help of local business mentors such as MyTrueBiz, Youth Business Academy, ITProAct, Modern Woodmen, Legal Shield and many more organizations committed to investing the next generation.

At the end of the week students will make a professional business presentation to their mentors, parents and peers.  The cost is $125 for the week. Sibling discount is available.
