Jake McLaren Is Snellville's Fastest in Peachtree Road Race

He was the 10th fastest among Georgia runners in the popular 4th of July road race.

Jake McLaren was Snellville’s fastest runner in the 2012 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, Atlanta’s popular Fourth of July foot race.

According to unofficial results posted Wednesday afternoon by the Atlanta Track Club, McLaren, 20, finished 52nd overall (49th among the men) with a time of 33 minutes, 9 seconds.

He was 10th among Georgia runners and 23rd among Americans.

Kenyan Peter Kirui won the 10-kilometer race through Midtown Atlanta with a time of 27:37. Mamitu Chepkurui of Ethiopia was the women’s overall winner in 32:22.

More than 57,000 runners participated in the annual Fourth of July road race.

Men: Chad Seder, 19, 237th overall, 37:31; Seneshaw Asress, 44, 550th, 30:48; Jonathan McNeil, 38, 585th, 41:05.

Women: Tayler Tuttle, 15, 181st among women, 45:13; Tiencia James, 34, 204th, 45:34; Celeste Cruz, 34, 358th, 47:41.
