Olympics 2012: Spotlight on Amanda Weir

A Brookwood graduate, Weir will compete in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay in the 2012 London Olympics.

Amanda Weir, a Lawrenceville native and Brookwood High graduate, already has two silver medals and six national titles to her credit.  

According to PMGSports.com, she is the fastest American female and a world record holder in the 4 x 100m medley relay.

She was Swimmer of the Year twice while she was at Brookwood.  She qualified for the 2004 Olympics as soon as she graduated.  Weir also led the Broncos to three consecutive State 5A team titles, according to USCTrojans.com, setting the high school state record in both the 50 and 100 yard free and earning All-America distinction in nine events.

  • Nine World Championship medals
  • Two gold medals in the Pan American Games
  • Part of the world record-setting 400m medley relay team at the 2009 MOO Duel
