The Farmers Market was recently featured on Rodale.com as one of America's favorite farmers markets.

It seems like there are more people at the Farmers Market every week.  Snellville's successful market was highlighted recently on Rodale.com as one of 11 best farmers markets in the U.S.  The peaches and heirloom vegetables were mentioned, as well as the willingness of the local farmers to share their secrets.

On top of the excellent variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers and assorted other things, Improvisatori, a local theatre troupe, entertained the crowds with a number of improvisational skits.  They also raised money for who is still in the ICU after a rare bacterial infection poisoned her blood.

Another fun feature this week was a watermelon weight guessing competition.  Seven-year-old Douglas Chave guessed correctly, estimating the enormous melon's weight at 117 pounds.  It was grown by vendor John Mikle and is a Carolina hybrid.
