Snellville Community Events on Deck

It's the summer, so expect fun courtesy of Snellville Tourism and Trade.

Snellville Tourism and Trade is hard at work at planning fun activities for local family and friends,

Here's a list of upcoming events:

Popcorn in the Park

Find out what's happening in Snellvillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

This event shows movies in June, July and August on select Saturdays. The first is this weekend, June 9. "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" will be the movie. On July 21, "Happy Feet Two" will play, and on August 18, "Dr. Seuss's The Lorax" will play.

All movies will be played at . Bring lawn chairs or blanket, and be ready to experience the free event. There is a small charge for food and inflatable child rides. Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with the movie showing at dusk.

Sizzling Summer Weekend

This family friendly event takes place June 15-16. There will be a "Live on the Law" concert series, and on Friday evening Banks and She will be the feature act. On Saturday, there will be the the "Run of the 'Ville" for all those athletically inclined. This years' festivities will benefit . Check Patch Friday for an interview with Joe Burnett, the executive director of Snellville Tourism and Trade, about the weekend events and the Copeland family.

Run the 'Ville

This races take place Saturday morning. Start time is 7 a.m. for the races, which leave . The registration fee for the 5K is $30; the fee for the half-marathon is $60. Participants must be 14 years old or older to register for the half marathon. Participants may be 8 years old or older for 10K and 5K, according to the organizer's website. Walkers are welcome. For more information, click here. The race is part of the series; this is the second year for the race in Snellville.

Star-Spangled Snellville

This event takes place on July 4, unlike last year when it happened on July 3. It takes place 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. on the town green across from . Enjoy food, fun and fireworks. It used to be organized by of Snellville, but this the tourism group has the reins.

Snellville Farmers' Market

The Snellville Farmers' Market kicked off its third year on Saturday, June 2. It will continue through September. The market features products from farms and gardens that are mostly located within a 100-mile radius of Snellville. Visitors can find fruits, vegetables, jams and jellies, homemade jewelry, honey and more. In addition, check out out previous coverage of the market in 2011, the market

Beach Blast

The Beach Blast has passed, but to The Beach Blast took place May 19.
