1. Honoring Veterans

When/Where: November 11, 12 p.m., Atlanta Marriott Gwinnett Place, 1775 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth

Why Go: The local will honor Gwinnett County's World War II veterans at a special Veteran's Day recognition ceremony and luncheon. With the number of surviving World War II veterans dwindling, here's a perfect chance to come out and support local heroes.

2. Girls Are Awesome

When/Where: November 12, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.., , 2428 Main Street East, Snellville

Why Go: Dove is coming to Snellville. The company is bringing its message of self-esteem and inspiration to the neighborhood. The even is open to all Girl Scouts and girls interested in being scouts. There will be troop exhibits, self-esteem workshops, door prizes, and more for girls ages 5 to 18. Go, go GIRL POWER. Register for the event by clicking here.

When/Where: November 12, 5:30 p.m., Harbour Oaks Montessori School, 1741 Athens Hwy, Grayson

Why Go: Join this local school for a night of food, fun and shopping at their annual silent and live auction. There will deals on everything from children's items, trips, spa treatments, and more. The evening will also host a pajama party for the kiddies, where pizza, games and karate will await. Raffle tickets are also on sale for a free iPad 2.

When/Where: November 12, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.., North Atlanta Trade Center, 1700 Jeurgens Court, Norcross

Why Go: The Atlanta Pet Expo is back. Of course, you can bring your pets, but make sure you also bring vaccination records. There are giveaways, adoptions and tons of vendors () at the event for you to up your pet game. Learn about volunteering, grooming, training and more. Your favorite pet can also receive micro-chipping and discounted vaccinations. And, while you're there, your pet could find a new friend to play with.

Pricing: Free entry and parking.

5. Rally for Robots

When/Where: November 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m., Pinckneyville Community Center, 4650 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Norcross

Why Go: The Atlanta Hobby Robot Club is hosting its fourth annual robot rally this year. So, if you like robots, and you think that robots like you, this is your place this weekend. Talk with builders and witness one-on-one robot competitions. There's even sumo wrestling, with robots of course. For complete rules and other information, click here
