Restaurant Re-Opening, Star Spangled Snellville and More: This Week in Town

Check out what's happening in and around Snellville from Aug. 26-31.

There's lots going on in Snellville this week!

Bright and early Monday (Aug. 26) is the beginning of qualifying week for three posts on the Snellville City Council in the November election: Posts 3, 4 and 5, which are currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts, Councilman Bobby Howard and Councilman Mike Sabbagh. All councilmen have said they're running for re-election, and former Mayor Pro Tem Barbara Bender also announced that she will be running for Sabbagh's seat. The qualifying period is set for Aug. 26-30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. everyday. Later Monday, the current council is holding its second regular meeting for the month in Snellville City Hall. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., with a work session preceding it at 6:30 p.m. 

The following morning on Tuesday (Aug. 27), O'Charley's off Scenic Highway is having a grand re-opening after some major renovations. The ribbon cutting ceremony starts at 6 p.m. followed by a small celebration with food and mingling.

On Thursday, the Evermore CID is having its monthly board meeting at 2:30 p.m. in their office, 5525 Bermuda Rd. in Stone Mountain. 

Then for Labor Day weekend, in addition to the weekly Snellville Farmers Market, there's also the long-awaited Star Spangled Snellville, postponed from the Fourth of July. Starting at 3 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m., the Saturday event will have music, food, games and fireworks on the Snellville Town Green. The fireworks start at 8:15 p.m.
