Snellville City Council Members to Be Sworn in Monday

The swearing in will take place during the regular meeting Nov. 11.

The Snellville City Council and mayor will meet Monday (Nov. 11) for their first work session and regular meeting of the month. 

The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of Snellville City Hall, located at 2342 Oak Rd. The work session will precede it at 7 p.m.

The major item of the evening is the swearing in of the newly elected council members. After getting the majority vote in the November general election, Councilman Tom Witts, Councilman Bobby Howard and former Mayor Pro Tem Barbara Bender will be sworn into office. Howard and Witts will be keeping their seats for Post 3 and 4, and Bender will be replacing current Councilman Mike Sabbagh for Post 5. 

Other items on the agenda include: 

  • Action on the construction agreement between the city and the Georgia Department of Transportation concerning Town Center transportation improvements in the LCI study. Road improvements will be done on Clower Street, Wisteria Drive and Oak Road.
  • The city of Grayson's request to use Snellville's mobile stage Dec. 8
  • Ratifying the certified results of the Nov. 5 city election
  • Nomination of Jackie Ginn to Post 6 on the Planning Commission
