This Week in Snellville: High School Football, 'Oz' and More

Check out what's happening in Snellville from Aug. 12-17.

It's another week in Snellville! Here's what's happening Aug. 12-17.

On Monday (Aug. 12), the Snellville City Council is holding its first regular meeting of the month. Agenda items include the Summit Chase lake and the city arts commission. Click here for more details.

In conjunction with the council meeting, the city also is celebrating its 90th birthday. (There will be a second celebration Aug. 24 during Live on the Lawn.) Stop by the city council meeting at 7:30 p.m. for cake and a special presentation.

Even though they're just scrimmage games, this week also marks the beginning of high school football season in Gwinnett. All Snellville teams are playing away games, though: Brookwood will be at Flowery Branch on Wednesday (Aug.14), and on Friday (Aug. 15), Shiloh will play at Rockdale County and South Gwinnett will be at Mountain View.

Another Saturday (Aug. 17), another Farmers Market. Head down to the Snellville Town Greene across from city hall from 8 a.m. to noon for dozens of vendors specializing in food and art at the No. 1. farmers market in the country.

Later that evening, take the whole family to watch "Oz The Great and Powerful," eat food and play with inflatables as part of Snellville's Popcorn in the Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Briscoe Park starting at 7 p.m. The movie starts at dusk.
