Snellville's 2013 Christmas Tree Lighting to Be Held at City Hall

Except for the actual tree lighting on the town green, all activities will be held inside, free from the cold and possibly wet weather.

The city of Snellville is hosting its 32nd annual Christmas Tree Lighting event this Friday (Dec. 6) starting at 5 p.m.

Bring the family to visit Santa, get professional holiday photos taken, watch dance numbers, and listen to Christmas carols by local church and school groups. Attendees also can participate in arts and crafts activities, which include Michaels' ornament decorating, a build-it craft activity by Lowe's and Bill Rhodes Bakery cookie decorating. Activities cost $1 or two cans of food to be donated to the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry.

At 7 p.m., Mayor Kelly Kautz, the Snellville City Council and Santa will lead a procession to the Town Green to light the 60-foot tree. Except for the actual tree lighting, all activities will be held inside Snellville City Hall, located at 2342 Oak Road, due to predicted bad weather.

Canned goods will be collected at the event for the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op, and Give Hunger the Boot will be accepting items for its Shoe Box Drive, too.
