R.L. Norton Elementary opened to alleviate crowding at nearby Annistown and Centerville elementary schools in southern Gwinnett County. The school is named for a former school board member, Robert Lee Norton, who served as a long-time trustee of Centerville Elementary School. The school's vision is to be a community that creates life-long learners. In addition to student engagement, the school also has a resource center for parents.
