Sarah P. McCord age 92 of Snellville passed away Thursday, May 09, 2013. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Snellville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery, Stone Mountain. Mrs. McCord was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed fishing and baking cakes for the community. John (Jack) Stuart Rowe passed away April 18, 2013. He was born Jan. 22, 1927 in Morganton, GA. Rejoicing with him in Heaven are his parents, Hazel (Lord) and Vincent Rowe, brother Joseph Calvin, loving wife, Patsy and children, Joe and Carol. Jack was a proud veteran of the US Navy, a Golden Gloves boxing champ, a talented picker and singer, and member of the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame. He was always entertaining and good humored, even as his Alzheimer's disease progressed. Left to grieve him are grandson, William Michael English, good friend Victor Feldman, cousin Marolyn Randolph, and many friends and Collins cousins. Lynn Breck, age 59, of Loganville passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Lloyd Breck; daughter Rebekah Lynn Breck; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Ellis. Mrs. Breck was a member of First Baptist Church Snellville. Robert “Larry” Babb, age 65, of Snellville, Georgia, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday evening, April 12, 2013. Larry was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 22, 1948, to Constance Marie Lynch Babb and Robert Calvin Babb. He graduated from Lyman High School in Florida and attended Dekalb College. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as an Interceptor of Morse Code for the Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters, and Aircraft Crewman Badge. Teeka Sailors, 49, was told by doctors that she needed a liver transplant within five months, according to friend and Snellville resident Kathy Hildebrand, or her chances for survival are slim. She passed away on April 3. Sailors' church family at Killian Hill Baptist Church had formed a group called "Team Teeka", and hosted a number of fundraisers for her. Even if she had a transplant, she would have needed immune-suppressant medications for the rest of her life. On average, these cost around $20,600 to $32,900 per year, according to the Georgia Transplant Foundation. On March 6, Sailors was rushed to Piedmont hospital for internal bleeding. Thomas Lloyd Pendergraft, age 79 of Snellville, GA passed away March 20, 2013. Mr. Pendergraft was born November 30, 1933 to Thomas Wilson and Edna Lloyd Pendergraft in Orange County, NC. He entered the U.S. Air Force at age 17, where he trained and worked as a radar mechanic and operator. He served overseas in Guam and Korea during the Korean Conflict where he received a bronze star. He attended seminary at Southeastern Baptist Seminary in Wake Forest, NC receiving a master of divinity. In 1977 he received ministerial standing with the United Church of Christ and on June 10, 1979 was ordained as a full standing minister. Updated March 13, 9:00 a.m. Rick McGranahan, 41, died very unexpectably from complications from diabetes. He lived in Washington, DC, where he worked for the National SPCA. He imported and exported diplomatic pets for the state department when diplomats were reassigned, according to his stepfather Tom Witts. He was also a published author. He has a brother, Bobby, who lives in Florida, and the family will travel to DC for the funeral.
