Snellville residents Dexter Dawston and Glen Williams face defeat.
As three Democrats faced off in the July 31st primary for House District 93, only one came out smiling. Dar'Shun Kendrick, formerly District 94 Rep., won the race with 60.39% of the vote. Glen Williams, a first time candidate, came in second with 29.36% while Dexter Dawston came in with 10.25%. "I guess it wasn't meant to be," said Williams on his Facebook page. "I am truly indebted to everyone who supported my campaign as we ran what we thought was as good a race to win as anyone........thanks!" Glen Williams, a husband and father of two children, has spent years making a difference in the community, and now he's hoping to do even more with a bid for a newly drawn district.
Glen Williams, a Snellville resident since 2000, is campaigning to represent the newly formed District 93. This past Friday he received the endorsement of the Gwinnett County Association of Educators. Williams, 44, is a community leader who is new to politics but "not new to being involved," he said. A Snellville resident for 12 years, he is an information technology consultant by trade, but volunteers for a host of other activities. He is the former co-executive director of the South Gwinnett Cluster Foundation, has served on the school counsel for Rosebud and Norton Elementary schools and also served as community liaison for zoning issues the Centerville area faced over the past few years.
