After being granted a brief reprieve because his wife was in the hospital, Carl “Skip” Cain of Flowery Branch has been ordered to report to federal prison by Jan. 7 to begin serving a 57-month sentence without parole. Cain pleaded guilty earlier this year to participating in a bribery scheme involving former Gwinnett County commissioner Shirley Lasseter and to drug trafficking charges. Cain, 65, has been assigned to a federal prison in Edgefield, SC. The Federal Correctional Institute at Edgefield is a medium security facility for male offenders. The son of former Gwinnett commissioner Lasseter was located via a tracking device, according to the Gwinnett Sheriff's report.
John Fanning, jailed without bond since a domestic dispute on Friday (Oct. 5) in Dacula that involved his estranged family, beat his wife with a table and table leg within view of their children, according to a Gwinnett Sheriff's incident report. John Fanning, son of former Gwinnett commissioner Shirley Lasseter, fled to a nearby wooded area after the incident and was located by Gwinnett Sheriff's SWAT officers via an electronic tracking device, the report says. The son of former Gwinnett Commissioner Shirley Lasseter is being held without bond in the Gwinnett Detention Center after an arrest Friday.
John Fanning, son of former Gwinnett County Commissioner Shirley Lasseter, was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center on Friday morning, Oct. 5, on charges that include aggravated assault and cruelty to children (third degree), records show. Fanning, already facing a federal prison sentence for bribery and drug trafficking charges, is being held without bond on the assault charge, as well as a charge of false imprisonment. Fanning, with a listed address of Bold Springs Road in Dacula, was booked into the jail at 11:28 a.m., records show.
