Legendary coach to sign books and collegiate gear at local Kroger store.
Former University of Georgia head football coach, Vince Dooley, will sign copies of his books and other collegiate memorabilia Friday, Dec. 14, at the Snellville Kroger on Highway 124. Dooley coached the UGA football team for 25 years and lead the Bulldogs to more than 200 victories, including a 1980 National Championship. The legendary coach has published more than nine books focused on life, the south and football, including: “How ‘Bout Them Dawgs” “Dooley: My 40 Years at Georgia” “Hairy Dawg’s Journey Through the Peach State” “Vince Dooley’s Garden: A Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach” Attendees can purchase UGA merchandise as well as copies of Dooley’s new book throughout the event. A few bagged salads sold at Kroger and Walmart that had the use-by date of June 19 have been recalled by the manufacturer.

If you follow the use-by date on the food you buy, a recall of bagged salads made by Dole Fresh Vegetables and sold at Kroger and Walmart stores in six states — including Georgia — won't matter much. The products being recalled are: The recall is due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. Dole Fresh Vegetables is coordinating with regulatory officials. The nationwide retailer announced it is donating a total of $22,000 to several Gwinnett County schools.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division will donate a total of $22,000 in grants to ten Gwinnett County schools, including Snellville's Britt Elementary, as part of its “Earning Plus Learning” program. The Kroger Co. said Thursday that it is recalling select containers of Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks Ice Cream sold in 10 states, including Georgia, because it may contain peanuts not listed on the label, according to a company news release. People who are allergic to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product, the company said. For consumers who are not allergic to peanuts, there is no safety issue. The product has been removed from Kroger shelves.
