This week's Business Spotlight focuses on an upscale thrift store that offers "something for everyone that anyone can afford."
Mark Galloway-Stillions, owner of Margins Charity Thrift and Variety Mall, is a retired interior designer who worked for years at Haverty Furniture. Of all things, a garage sale inspired him to start the store. Because of his fantastic taste and eye for design, people were drawn to his garage sales again and again. So, he decided to rent a small space in Lawrenceville, followed by one in Decatur. But Mark has more than just a passion for design – his goal in life and business is to make the world a better place, right here in Snellville. Last year, Mark and his partner sponsored 17 homeless families during the Christmas holidays. They invited them into their home on Christmas Eve and day, and made sure the children had presents, food and a…

Now's your chance to join New London Theatre on stage.

Have you done the Time Warp lately? Do it again at New London Theatre's presentation of this cult classic.
Under the direction of Scott Rousseau, this edgy interpretation of the cult classic was a huge hit with Friday night's audience. The cast performed outrageous renditions of "Damn it, Janet," "Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me," and, of course, "The Time Warp." For those of you who are unfamiliar with the musical, it spoofs mid-century B-movies with an ensemble of transgender aliens paired with a tightly wound, freshly engaged couple. It's basically a silly, raunchy comedy that pushes humor to the edge, and the cast more than pulls it off. The star of the show was Mark Galloway-Stillions, the owner of Margins Retail, as Dr. Frank N. Furter. His powerful delivery, humor and physical presence brings a surprising depth to the performance. Riff Raff, …

New London Theatre is busily renovating and preparing for productions in its new home. In this week's Viewfinder, John Berlo, director of marketing, takes Patch on a tour of the huge, new space.
"It was fate," said, marketing director John Berlo, of the new space the theatre occupies. New London Theatre is settling comfortably into its space inside Margins Charity Thrift and Variety Mall in Snellville. Having been previously located in a small, nondescript space with no air conditioning, New London Theatre was getting ready to close its doors when, according to Berlo, fate stepped in. Fate was assisted by Mark Galloway-Stillions, who performed in New London Theatre's production of "Driving Miss Daisy." He purchased the old furniture store and turned it into what is now Margins Charity Thrift and Variety Mall. Like the theater, the thrift mall is a 501(c)3 and is committed to giving back to the community. When Galloway-Stillions …

(Editor's Note: The following article is from a press release from New London Theatre.) New London Theatre will present Nunsense 2: The Second Coming opening March 30th and continuing through April 15th in our new location! Six weeks after the sisters have staged their first benefit, the sisters are back presenting a "thank-you" show for all the people who supported them in the past. But now, they're a bit slicker, having been "bitten by the theater bug." Things get to off to a rousing start as the sisters sing “Nunsense, the Magic Word”, but before long, chaos erupts. Two Franciscans come to claim Sister Mary Amnesia (who has won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes) as one of their own. At the same time the nuns hear that a talent …

(Editor's Note: Below is a message to patron from New London Theatre, Snellville's own nonprofit community theater.) Dearest Patrons, You know the saying, "When one door closes, another one swings open"? I've always felt that was true, but no more than now. I was drafting up the final letter to you, our Patrons, letting you know that the board of New London Theatre decided the only course of action due to financial hardship was to close the doors after our current show Cheaper by the Dozen. Through the support of our patrons and benefactors, we have done our best to continue bringing you quality shows even through these unfortunate hard economic times. We just could not handle the high overhead of our lease and bills. The Board spoke …

New London Theatre will premiere "Cheaper by the Dozen" on Friday night. Our Patch photographer visited a dress rehearsal this week to catch the actors and crew busily preparing for the big opening night.
Director Starshine Stanfield, cast and crew are busy rehearsing for New London Theatre's opening night performance of "Cheaper by the Dozen," a multi-age production that will open February 17th and continue through March 4th. The theatre provided this synopsis of the show: "Suppose you're an attractive high school girl and you're not only a member of a large and unique family but your father is, in fact, one of the great pioneers of industrial efficiency. Then suppose he decides, for no apparent reason, to apply his unorthodox methods to you and to the rest of your big family. The results are terribly embarrassing, funny and—it must be admitted—extremely effective! "To Anne, however, the chief effect seems to be that of making them seem …
