Snellville Days Kicks Off With Parade, Festival

Snellville Days is taking place the weekend of May 7-8.

Snellville celebrated family and fun at the 38th annual Snellville Days festival featuring more than 150 vendors, games, food and evening music concerts for the whole community. The festival kicked off with a parade Saturday morning from the Wisteria Village Shopping Center to the Snellville City Hall. This year's theme was “Bringing Families Together.” Several local businesses presented unique floats including Ted Montana Grill’s bison float and the GotSquirrels.com mascot riding a motorcycle. First place in the float contest was awarded to Covenant Christian Academy, which built a replica of an old schoolhouse painted red with a picnic table. From the float, a few of the academy’s students sat and waved to the crowd. They won $300. …

Gwinnettians Honoring MLK Jr. at Parade Monday

Celebration starts at historic courthouse, ends at Central Gwinnett High

LAWRENCEVILLE – A parade through downtown Lawrenceville Monday will honor Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County Inc. is sponsoring the 11th annual MLK Jr. Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. at the Historic Gwinnett County Courthouse, 185 W. Crogan St., and ending at Central Gwinnett High School, 564 W. Crogan St. A large turnout is expected. Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson and other officials will deliver brief remarks to the gathering at the courthouse at 9:30 a.m. Then everyone will walk over to Central Gwinnett High where students will read essays they have written about Dr. King.
