Hey Y'all

Santa Claus Visits the Special Needs School of Gwinnett

Marlene Buchanan has the honor of knowing Santa personally.

I told you once that I was older than dirt. I taught Elvis in high school and I attended kindergarten through graduation with Santa Claus. Yep. I remember Santa when he didn’t know what a whisker was, let alone how to grow a beard! You know, Santa is not born Santa Claus. He has to be chosen for that job because of his kindness and love for children. David Childs was tapped to be Santa Claus quite a few years ago. From the beautiful white beard and rosy cheeks to the loving personality and deep heartfelt laugh, David is Santa. Santa David is a very generous, gregarious man with the tender heart of Santa Claus and the true Christmas Spirit. Childs was chosen as Santa because he embodies the ideal we all hold of that delightful being, and he…

Even Christians who celebrate Christmas have been known to discourage their children from buying into the story of Santa. I started thinking about writing this when a …

Hey Y'all

Hey Y'all from Santa Claus

Our Marlene caught up with Santa, who sometimes goes by the name of Rick Hyman, for a quick story before the big day.

Do you know where Santa spends his summers? Right here in Snellville. You might see him in his red truck around town and he might introduce himself as Rick Hyman, but he really is Santa Claus. Before retiring in 2003, Santa Rick worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in aviation security. Rather fitting, since he had acquired all that knowledge through having to negotiate flight plans via a reindeer-driven sleigh. Every Christmas, though, he donned his red suit and went to work. While employed with the FAA, he worked initially in Atlanta but then went overseas assigned to the United States embassy in Brussels, Belgium, and then to the Pacific at the embassy in Manila, Philippines. Throughout these assignments he continued his…
