Council to Discuss Emergency System, Budget

Snellville City Council will meet Thursday, April 19, to discuss several key items.

Snellville City Council will meet during a special called meeting and work session on April 19 to discuss several key items. On the agendas are: The emergency notification system and budget will be addressed during a 7 p.m. work session. The new community garden will be addressed during a brief meeting at 6:45 p.m. The special called meetings will be held at Snellville City Hall, 2342 Oak Road, Snellville. City Council Retreat Canceled

Mayor Kelly Kautz said council could not agree on a mediator.

The Snellville City Council retreat has been canceled for this weekend. It initially was scheduled for Friday and Saturday. However, after the Monday evening council meeting, the mayor and council decided to postpone the retreat. At the council meeting, several members of the public suggested that either the city postpone the meeting or bring in a third party to help mediate the retreat. Ultimately, city officials said they were not ready for the two-day planning session. In a Facebook post, Mayor Kelly Kautz said: "I thought that we had all took to heart the suggestion for a mediator/facilitator this weekend. This same journalist also made it clear in a published statement that she is NOT a friend or supporter of law enforcement, nor would she apologize to law enforcement in general or specifically for the remark. It says a lot about her, personally. I can only hope that Patch management reconsiders her control of this particular publication.   more ›
