Did Time Magazine Get it Right by Choosing President Obama 2012 Person of the Year?

This is the second time Barack Obama has been named Time Person of the Year.

Time Magazine announced Wednesday that President Barack Obama was named 2012 Time Person of the Year. Obama beat out runner up Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager shot in the head by the Taliban for sticking to her principles for women’s rights. Obama also was Time Person of the Year in 2008. The last person to win the title twice was former President George W. Bush. According to The Huffington Post, Richard Stengel, managing editor of Time, said it was remarkable that Obama won two terms with more than 50 percent of the popular vote as a Democrat. Who Do You Think Should Be Time Magazine's Person of the Year?

The nominees are in for 2012, so who do you think Time Magazine should choose? And why?

On Dec. 14, Time magazine will announce its Person of the Year—which isn’t guaranteed to be an actual man or woman. But in the run-up, the magazine has invited votes on 40 candidates, including Barack Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Some people have as many votes against them as for them. Included in the options are The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.  So if it was up to you, who would you choose as the 2012 Time Person of the Year? And Why? (Doesn't necessarily have to be someone on the list)

David - you have a great point. Psy did something that few others have managed to do -- put a smile on millions of faces and bring a little fun into our lives. Spreading joy and happiness should be worth at least a few votes.   more ›
