Severe Storm Warning, Tornado Watch Until 4 p.m. for Gwinnett, Metro Atlanta

Updated 12:40 p.m. The situation is in effect for Gwinnett and Northeast Georgia until 4 p.m.

Updated 3:55 p.m.: From Gwinnett County Public Schools - "We haven't cancelled after-school activities districtwide. Anderson-Livsey ES and Puckett's Mill ES cancelled their activities. Parents with questions about the status of their activities should check their local school's web site. Updated: Tornado Watch for Area

Thunderstorms with the possibility of tornadoes are rolling into central and north Georgia.

Updated December 22, 2011, 5:58 p.m.: A tornado watch is in effect for the area until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Thanks to the unseasonably warm weather and an incoming low pressure system, there is a hazardous weather outlook for central and north Georgia today. According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms are possible over north and central Georgia this afternoon. This includes a number of counties, such as DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Hall and parts of Fulton County. The primary hazard is lighting, and isolated tornadoes also are possible. The most favorable area for tornadoes, according the National Weather Service, will be north and west of a Columbus to Commerce line this afternoon.

Tornado Watch Re-Issued for Gwinnett County

A tornado watch is in effect until 2 a.m.

Updated 10:45 p.m. Severe weather is expected to bring heavy rains and winds with the possibility of tornadoes throughout Gwinnett County tonight. A tornado watch, issued about 6:50 p.m. by the National Weather Service, is in effect for the entire county through 2 a.m. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to produce tornadoes. Neighboring Gwinnett counties, including Rockdale, DeKalb, Walton, Hall, Forsyth, Barrow and Fulton are also under a tornado watch. Tornado Watch for Gwinnett County

Tornado Watch in effect until 8 p.m. Severe thunderstorm in effect until 6 p.m.

Severe weather is expected to roll into Gwinnett County during the evening commute on Monday. As of 5:25 p.m., there were no weather-related incidents in Gwinnett County, according to local fire officials. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued shortly after 5 p.m. by the National Weather Service, and it remains in effect until 6 p.m. Radar indicated a line of storms capable of producing damaging winds up to 60 mph. These storms include Gwinnett County.
