Moms Making a Difference

Local moms donate their time for good causes.

As a mom to young kids, I think it's easy for me to feel like the world only exists within the walls of my house. I think that it's important to look out beyond the haven of my home and reach out to others in need. It feels pretty amazing to make a difference in the world by doing something with my time other than wiping runny noses, although that's an important job, too. He is sworn is at the new state legislator for District 106, despite a historic winter storm. Tracie Tolentino, our mommy columnist, recalls past snow days with her little one.  A Snellville family loses garage and vehicles in a fire. The fire erupted as the …

11 Ways To Do Good in 2011

If you're looking for ways to volunteer this year, we have 11 examples of things you can do.

It's a new year, and we've pulled together a list of 11 things that you can start doing now to help your Snellville community. From volunteering at the local hospital to mentoring a child, there is something for everyone. If you have any other ideas for giving back to Snellville, let us know. We would love to feature these opportunities for everyone in our special volunteer section. 1. Helping Hands for Health Care Emory Eastside Medical Center has a wealth of opportunities for the public to volunteer. As an auxiliary volunteer, participants spend time helping patients, family members and hospital staff in a number of departments, including admissions, the gift shop and the mother-baby unit. There is also a summer volunteer program for …
