Snow, snow, snow. Need I say more?
We tried not to write about snow and ice all week, but thanks to the weather Snellville Patch pretty much lost that battle. However, there were some non-snow, non-ice related coverage that we were able to sneak in. In case you missed anything, here's your quick reading to-do list from this past week. Jan. 9: Brookwood High School teams sweep rivalry match against Parkview High School, and thanks to Lilburn Patch we have video. Jan. 10: Brett Harrell becomes Rep. Brett Harrell. With all the snow and ice in the area, residents are taking the time to enjoy the snow. Here's a few pictures taken by your neighbors and friends. You can add your own photos and videos to this gallery by clicking the green "Add" button below the pictures.
Interstates have a one-inch thick sheet of ice on them in many areas.
he Georgia Dept. of Transportation urges citizens to avoid roads again today, specifically I-285. The I-285 and I-75 interchange is reportedly very icy. I-285 eastbound from I-75 to I-85 has also been reported as hazardous. I-285 westbound from Flat Shoals Road to I-75 has been reported as extremely icy. At 9:15 a.m. spokesperson Karlene Barron said that these conditions persist, but that some very slow movement was beginning to happen eastbound and westbound on I-285. Also, Barron specifically pointed out issues with the ramp from I-85 to Pleasant Hill Road. The GDOT office said that crews are battling at least one inch of ice on the roadway. H.E.R.O. trucks are re-routing traffic in many places so that crews can treat the interstate…
