A Year Ago ... Snow!

Do you miss the January 2011 snowstorm? Check out our slideshow of last year's wintry weather. Then take our poll and let us know how you feel about the frozen stuff.

A year ago today, metro Atlantans were battling a bear of a snowstorm. The storm dumped a half a foot or more of snow on the ground, closing schools for a week, disrupting some government services and leaving many of us in hibernation until the frozen stuff finally thawed. We may have temps in the 60s this week, but Patch wanted to share some cool images from last year's storm, shot by our editors, correspondents and readers. Enjoy.

If it's going to be cold, I want snow! Send me a note and I'll pick uop your groceries! I learned to drive in the stuff at an early age. Unless it's pure ice (or compacted snow), no worries here. Problem in this area is watching out for the other guy who doesn't know how to drive in the stuff.   more ›

Friday Night Football Scoreboard

Get your Friday scores here and share yours, too.

Below are the Friday night football games we think are of local interest. We'll update the scores as we get them. Have a score we don't? High school football is a communal experience in Georgia, and Patch invites you to share your experiences with the whole community. You can upload game photos and video to this article by clicking on "Add your photos & videos," or send scores, photos and highlights to GaPatchSports@gmail.com. Put the school and sport in the subject line. Home team is listed second

Viewfinder: Atlanta Dream Takes Show on the Road

Atlanta's professional women's basketball team was in Snellville recently to meet the community and help out a good cause.

The Atlanta Dream, the city's professional women's basketball team, came to Brookwood High School on July 11, as part of its annual "Take the Show on the Road" event. Admission to the event The Snellville stop benefitted the Amanda Riley Foundation. (Each sponsoring school receives $5 of every admission ticket to the event.) The event, sponsored by Walmart, gives schools and communities a chance to see the players practice, meet them and interact with coaches. In addition, admission to the "Take the Show on the Road" event includes:

Fourth of July Around Metro Atlanta

We gathered photos from around the area of fireworks, and on Thursday we will have a special tribute to Snellville in Viewfinder.

We had Patch photographers all over the metro area, and here are some of the photos that we shot. From Gwinnett County and beyond, looks like Atlantans were having a lot of fun.

Got a Hot Tip?
