Brookwood High School has held its spot as the second-most populated school in county, following the last official enrollment count by Gwinnett County Public Schools. The Snellville high school had 3,365 students, falling slightly behind Mill Creek High in Hoschton, Ga., which had 3,539 students, according to the fifth enrollment count taken on September 6. Enrollment at South Gwinnett and Shiloh grew substantially from the first enrollment count in August. Initally, South Gwinnett had 1,976, and now there are 2,391. Shiloh had 1,923 students, and now there are 2,065 students enrolled. Of the GCPS middle schools, Hull Middle in Duluth had the highest enrollment with 2,256 students. Gwinnett County Public Schools announced an enrollment of 160,649 students in its second count conducted Monday, Aug. 15. This represents an increase of 3,690 students since the school system’s first count last Tuesday, Aug. 9. The school system's “day-after-Labor Day” forecast is 162,459, according to Jorge Quintana, GCPS director of media relations. At this point, GCPS is 1,810 students below forecast. However, last year, the school system grew 1,796 second from the second count until its final count, Quintana reported. Based on these preliminary numbers, GCPS planners expect the school system's post-Labor Day enrollment to be very close to the forecast, he said. Brookwood High School had the second-highest enrollment of any school in the district, according to data from Gwinnett County Public Schools. The Snellville high school had 3,356 students, falling slightly behind Mill Creek High in Hoschton, Ga., which had 3,528 students, according to the first enrollment count taken on August 9. By comparison, South Gwinnett and Shiloh had 1,976 and 1,923 students, respectively. Both of these high schools fell below projected enrollment, however. South Gwinnett had 349 fewer students than expected, and Shiloh had 236 fewer students than expected. Of the GCPS middle schools, Hull Middle in Duluth had the highest enrollment with 2,256 students.
