Upgrades Coming to Highway 124 Include Cameras, Traffic Flow Improvements

Ten cameras will be installed and the traffic signals will be interconnected.

According to the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation, a project is underway along Highway 124/Centerville Highway to install 6.8 miles of underground fiber optic cable, 10 CCTV cameras, and to interconnect the 11 traffic signals along the corridor. (See the attached PDF for a detailed map.)  "This will tie the Centerville Highway corridor to our Traffic Control Center (TCC) and allow staff to monitor and make real time traffic signal adjustments based on current conditions," said Charles Bailey, traffic engineering and planning division director of Gwinnet DOT.   The improvements are being made from Lee Road on Highway 124 through Oak Road. wondered what they were running the tubes for on 124 now I know :) saw camera and they did do work at Annistown and 124 with cross walks and new sensors.   more ›
