Here's information from the September 30th campaign disclosure forms.
A chief executive of Eastside Hospital and well-known auto dealership have made contributions to the Snellville mayoral campaigns of Barbara Bender and Kelly Kautz, according to state records. Dustin Greene, chief operating officer of Eastide Medical Center in Snellville, made a $250 contribution on July 2 to Bender's campaign. And, Dwight Harrison Volkswagen made a $500 contribution in September to Kautz's campaign. Both Greene and Harrison are past members of the Evermore CID, with Harrison being the longest serving of the two. Barbara Bender and Kelly Kautz stated their positions on a number of issues at South Gwinnett High School's mayoral debate October 20, 2001.
Snellville's two candidates for mayor -- Kelly Kautz and Barbara Bender -- traded a few jabs here and there, but overall the Thursday evening election debate proved informative and respectful. Led by South Gwinnett High School students, the debate brought out about 250 people to hear the candidates' positions on a number of issues ranging from community pride to crime and safety. As the Republican Primary season kicks into high gear, the candidates are now going after each other hard as they battle for voters' attention. Georgia businessman Herman Cain, who recently moved into first place alongside Mitt Romney, took heat in the Oct. 18 Primary debate from most of the other candidates for his 9-9-9 plan and Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry got into a couple of heated debates. The other Georgia candidate in the debate, Newt Gingrich, appeared a calm and confident voice in the mix. Who do you think won the debate Tuesday, and why?

Citizens of Snellville may begin advance voting now until November 4.
Snellville citizens may now start early voting. Early voting begins 8 a.m. Monday, October 17 (today) for the 2011 November elections. There will be a general election to vote in new council members and a special election to vote on an alcohol sales referendum. Although there are four posts open, including three council spots and the mayor's seat, only the mayor's race will be decided in the election. Because no one is running against the three council candidates -- Dave Emanuel for Post 1, Diane Krause for Post 2 and Bobby Howard for Post 4, the three newbies are elected by default. Mayoral candidates, Barbara Bender and Kelly Kautz will still battle it out for the city's top elected spot. Both ladies had to step down from their council …
