Enzo's Pizza Re-Inspected, Permit Not Re-Instated

The pizza place was shut down earlier in the month after an infestation of cockroaches.

Enzo's Pizza on Highway 78 was re-inspected on Thursday, May 30. The restaurant was forced to close on May 21 after scoring a 53 U with violations including an infestation of cockroaches and inadequate refrigeration.

Inspectors conducted a follow-up Thursday, but were unable to re-instate Enzo's permit because several surfaces were still unclean and the restaurant had not eliminated their roach problem. Several roaches were spotted running throughout the kitchen and even in a hand sanitizer dispenser.

Violations: 15C, Violation of Code: [.05(7)(a)2,3 ] Several equipment surfaces are still unclean: shelving over the vegetable prep sink, dough prep table, table for steam wells, food processor stored on shelf above dough prep table, stainless steel shelving over the pizza ovens, beer dispensing station drain pans and metal grate, countertops under the cash register, the underside of the Hobart commercial mixer, pizza racks, interior and exterior of both the salad makeline and pizza makeline coolers, tops of pizza ovens, wooden spatulas and racks stored on top of the pizza ovens, etc. Must clean all equipment surfaces throughout the facility.  Repeat Violation. 17C, Violation of Code: [.07(5)(a),(b) ] Floors still unclean throughout the food preparation areas for pizza, dough/breads, fresh vegetables and fruits; in side the walk-in cooler underneath shelves, in the back dry storage area and back hallway near walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer, and underneath the dry storage shelf at the vegetable sink area. Advised the employees to scrub the floors clean. The walls throughout the facility must still be cleaned of the greasy residue, especially at the fryer and grill station. Walls are also unclean at the dishwashing machine and compartment sink area.  Repeat Violation. 18, Violation of Code: [.07(5)(k) ] Large numbers of live cockroaches were seen inside the damp drain pan for the beer dispensing station, inside the hand sanitizer dispenser, inside the gap at the wall between the back of the beer station and the wall material, inside the fan compartment of the salad cooler, and inside a detached piece of vinyl seal above a pizza cooler door. Cockroaches were still seen running along pipeline behind the pizza ovens where the walls and floor had not been cleaned; and several cockroaches were seen crawling up the walls at the dishwashing machine station and at the floors in this area. Employee must continue to seal crevices and clean the facility. The facility must be cleaned thoroughly to allow pest treatments to be maximally effective.  Repeat Violation.
