Snellville City Council Candidate Forum to Be Held at South Gwinnett High

Citizens for a Better Snellville and the Snellville Neighborhood Alert Program are inviting all six candidates to the Oct. 29th event.

Update: According to Mayor Kelly Kautz, candidates Alisa Boykin, Mike Sabbagh and Dexter Harrison are unavailable to attend the forum.

Boykin has a meet and greet that night, Councilman Sabbagh has to be out of town for work, and Harrison has a family matter.

Citizens for a Better Snellville and the Snellville Neighborhood Alert Program are inviting all the city council candidates to a forum Oct. 29 at South Gwinnett High School.

The six candidates running--current Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts and candidate Alisa Boykin for Post 3, incumbent Councilman Bobby Howard and challenger Dexter Harrison for Post 4, and former Mayor Pro Tem Barbara Bender and incumbent Councilman Mike Sabbagh for Post 5--will have the opportunity to present their viewpoints and answer questions from the audience at the forum, according to a news release.

Dave Huddleston of Atlanta's WSB-TV Action News will serve as the moderator. Citizens for a Better Snellville and the Snellville Neighborhood Alert Program are sponsoring the forum in response to voter requests.

"It's important for voters to hear what candidates have to say about their qualifications, positions on issues and visions for the future of our city," said Matt Czarick of Citizens for a Better Snellville in the release. "We feel that a forum is the fairest way for candidates to express themselves. We are extremely pleased to have Dave Huddleston serving as a moderator. Mr. Huddleston is an award-winning television reporter and news anchor, and his expertise will assure that the forum is conducted at the highest levels of professionalism."

The public is invited to attend the forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. It will be held at in the school theater at South Gwinnett High, located at 2288 E. Main St.
