List of Armored Car Heist Arrests, Charges

This is an account of arrests and charges related to the armored car robbery heists that have affected Gwinnett County.

On Wednesday, March 27, Gwinnett Police first announced arrests and charges in connection with an armored car robbery ring in the county and throughout metro Atlanta.

This is a list of charges and arrests related to crimes, as compiled by Snellville Patch. (Initial information posted here is about Stacey Dooley, as he has a Snellville address.)

1. Suspect: Stacey Dooley, 35, of Snellville is charged in connection with:

  • A Bank of America robbery in Buford at the Mall of Georgia on November 11, 2010
  • A Wells Fargo in Centerville (Snellville area) on November 29, 2010
  • A Mall of Georgia heist, in which an armed guard shot at the suspects, on December 7, 2010
  • A Redan Road robbery at the Wells Fargo ATM on Redan Road Jan. 21.
  • A Toco Hills armored car robbery, that left 32-year-old armored car guard Gary Castillo dead
  • A Marietta heist of a Dunbar Armored during a cash pick-up at Mex-America Latino Service on Marietta Parkway on October 7, 2010
  • Dooley is also wanted by state law enforcement in North Carolina:
    • Listed as an absconder for a probation violation. Keith Acree, a spokesman for the North Carolina Department of Corrections, said state law enforcement has been looking for Dooley since March 2009.
    • Convicted Dec. 14, 1994 for an assault on a woman, he was sentenced to a 12-month probation. But, Acree said in September 2005 that the probation was revoked due to a violation, and that Dooley finished his sentence in jail
    • Convicted August 23, 2006 of three related drug possession charges. Dooley was sentenced to probation of 36 months.
    • Convicted July 19, 2007 of possession of a fire arm by a felon. Dooley was sentenced to probation for 36 months. This sentence was to run concurrently with the 2006 probation.
      • Dooley's probation sentence was scheduled to end in July 2010, but Acree said he absconded on March 2009.
    • Dooley has not served time in a state prison, though he has been convicted of the above-mentioned crimes.
  • Various news reports in North Carolina also indicate that Dooley has a criminal record in Mecklenberg County. Calls to the Mecklenberg County Sherrif's Department were not immediately returned.
