Teen Takes Advantage of Vacationing Neighbors
He admitted to burglarizing the neighbor's home to his friend, who was house-sitting for them.
A young man says his friend burglarized a neighbor's home that he had been house-sitting in unincorporated Snellville.
According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the 18-year-old was looking after a home on the 3700 block of Saddle Ridge Drive while the family was in Florida. He arrived at the home one Sunday evening to let the dogs out and returned the next day to take them out again.
When he got there, though, he noticed the glass on the rear door was broken.
He told police that his friend, a 15-year-old who lives on the same block, had texted him earlier that morning saying he had robbed the home. He allegedly took an Xbox and seven pairs of shoes.
Police took photos of the text messages and observed the smashed door. They also saw empty shoe boxes in one of the bedrooms.
The family was notified, and they told police they were on their way home.
The report does not detail if the juvenile was arrested or contacted. Because he is under 18, there are no public jail records of him online.
