Live on the Lawn and Another Production at New London Theatre: This Week in Snellville

Check out what's happening in town from Aug. 19-24.

Here's to another week in Snellville.

On Wednesday (Aug. 21), the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce is having its August luncheon at the Summit Chase Country Club, located at 3197 Classic Dr. The lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and U.S. Representative Rob Woodall is the special guest. The cost ranges from $10 to $20.

Also at the Summit Chase Country Club, the Snellville Tourism & Trade and Snellville the Commerce Club is hosting their second Community Meet & Greet from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 22). Residents are invited to attend and meet some of Snellville's business owners and elected officials at the free event.

To start the weekend, New London Theatre is debuting its latest production, "Born Yesterday." The play, which runs Fridays to Sundays through Sept. 8, is about an "egotistic junkman" who goes to Washington "to make crooked deals with government big-wigs." Click here for specific showtimes and ticket information.

This weekend also marks the official start of football season with most Snellville schools' official first game of the year. Shiloh starts next week on Aug. 30, but on Saturday, the Georgia Dome will host two Snellville games: Grayson is against Colquitt County and Brookwood is playing McEachern. South Gwinnett will play Lincoln High from Tallahassee, Fla., at Norcross High.

Saturday is Farmers Market Day on the Snellville Town Greene across from city Hall, so be sure to check out the dozens of vendors from 8 a.m. to noon.

Later that same day is Live on the Lawn  with the Metro Jazz Club band and Snellville's 90th birthday celebration. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the free show and celebration.
